MABLE'S CAKE^

       1 c  Sugar
       1 c  Raisins
       1 c  Water
     1/2 c  Lard
       1 ts Baking soda
       2 c  Flour
     1/2 ts Salt
       1 ts Cinnamon
       1 ts Ground cloves
       1 ts Nutmeg
  
   In a medium sized saucepan, mix together sugar, raisins, water and
   lard. Bring to a boil and stir in baking soda. Cool and add flour,
   salt and spices. Mix well. Bake in moderate oven.
   
   Many of the recipes in this collection did not contain amounts or oven
   temperatures. I have typed them in as they appear in the book, typos
   and all.
